A little about us...
European born and trained, Leo Bachrach learned his skills the old-fashioned way. He honed his skills for many years and had become one of the premier gold and platinum smiths specializing in hand made, custom designed pieces of fine jewelry. Mr. Bachrach trained at the Zeichenakadamie in Hanau, Germany, one of Europe's finest art schools. After having completed a rigorous four year course of study, Mr. Bachrach received his diploma in 1934. He opened his own shop in Chicago in 1944, and remained active in all aspects of the firm until his passing at the age of 93.
Mr. Bachrach was assisted first by his wife, Audrey. Also a fine arts person,she provided fine design consultation, working with the Bachrach's private clientele for over 55 years.
Following in his father's footsteps, Mark Bacharach pursued his education at Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Tübingen in Germany. Later, he refined his technique at the Dreissiger School of Jewelry Design where he also learned about the manufacture of fine silver pieces. Mark Bachrach oversees the day to day operations of the firm today. Whether it be Old World designs or modern ones, Leo Bachrach & Son continues to offer superb quality at affordable prices.
